Our History
A Legacy of Excellence Since 1932
When Manuel "Manny" Fey purchased the W.F. Huffman Printing Co. in 1932 for a mere $17,000, Fey Publishing Company was born. At the time, the company was specializing primarily in local job printing work, as well as the publication of two magazines, Your Home and Good Homes. Though the country was in the depths of the Great Depression, Manny was committed to his new commercial printing venture and grew the business accordingly. His brother Frank joined two years later in 1934, and would go on to serve as President and CEO beginning in 1961 after Manny suffered a stroke.
In the 1940s, we would begin producing paper sample books for the Nekoosa Edwards Paper Company just down the road, a niche that has helped shape Fey Printing into what it is today, as we are known in the industry for creating paper sample books and promos for mills and manufacturers across North America and beyond.
Frank would serve as president until 1975 when Donald Gasch was appointed to the role, having been with the company for 25 years. Don began in 1950 at the age of 18, operating a hand-platen press, and eventually became a sales representative, sales manager, and executive vice president. In 1989, he purchased the company and began the next chapter in our history. His two sons, Scott and Keith, joined the company serving in various sales and management roles before becoming President and Vice-President.
Under their leadership the original plant was expanded yet again, equipment was upgraded, and the need for a larger space became evident. A new state-of-the-art facility was constructed in 1999, bringing all printing, bindery, and warehousing operations under one 104,000 quare foot roof. A new 40" 6 color offset press was added to further enhance capabilites and output.
In 2010, the company name was subtly changed to Fey Printing, signaling our desire to be known as a full-service commercial printing facility. Launching our Fey Digital division brought the HP Indigo digital printing technology into our portfolio, including variable data printing, digital opaque white ink, and more.
Don would go on to be with Fey Printing for a total of 72 active years until he passed away in 2022. He never fully retired, preferring instead to stay informed and involved, and enjoying a walk through the plant to see what new and exciting things were moving through. Keith has dedicated 36 years to Fey Printing in roles as bindery manager, sales, and as Vice-President. Scott served as President from 1998 through his retirement in 2024 when his son Kristopher became the third generation of the Gasch family to lead the company.
From our inception as a small, hot-metal print shop in the 1930's to our 104,000 square foot facility of today, so much has changed. However, our commitment to integrity, quality and personal service remains the same. Today, Fey Printing conducts business across the globe from our small-town home in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. In addition to award-winning offset, digital, letterpress and specialty printing, we also offer complete bindery and fulfillment services. While the company has grown and expanded, Fey Printing remains a third generation family-owned business, placing a high value on personal relationships with our clients.
